What Is WiFi Heat Mapping?

A WiFi heat map is a colour-coded visualisation of your wireless network laid over your physical space. Where most people see walls and rooms, we see signal strength (RSSI), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), channel utilisation, throughput, roaming behaviour and interference — all rendered in real-time as warm and cool zones across your floor plan.

Heat mapping isn't guesswork. It is a precise, measurable engineering discipline that combines physical site walks, RF measurement, predictive modelling and validation testing. It answers, definitively, the question every business asks at some point: "Why doesn't the WiFi work properly here?"

02 · Methodology

How A Heat Map Actually Works

Behind every clean coverage report is a four-stage engineering workflow. We do not guess AP placement, we calculate it — then prove it.

Site Capture

We import your floor plan (CAD, PDF or image) into Ekahau, NetSpot or TamoGraph. Every wall, glass partition, lift shaft and concrete column is mapped with its real RF attenuation value — drywall is not concrete, and concrete is not glass.

Predictive Modelling

The software simulates AP placement, transmit power, antenna patterns and frequency bands across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz (WiFi 6E / 7). We test capacity per client, co-channel interference and roaming overlap before a single cable is pulled.

Active Site Survey

An engineer walks the site with calibrated WiFi adapters and a GPS / floorplan tracker, sampling RSSI, SNR, retry rates and throughput at hundreds of points. Real measurements replace assumptions — drywall water content, furniture density and human bodies all alter RF.

Validation & Handover

After install we run a passive survey to confirm SLA targets — typically -65 dBm primary coverage, -67 dBm for voice, 25 dB SNR minimum. You receive a deliverable PDF heat map, channel plan, AP inventory and recommended remediation list.

What A Survey Actually Finds

We publish one in full. An independent audit of an existing third-party villa installation found 32 access points fitted but only 9–12 reaching usable signal strength on any floor, 14 rooms below the design threshold, half the 2.4 GHz radios sharing a single channel, and roughly 110 devices — cameras included — on one flat subnet with no VLAN boundaries. More access points is not more coverage. This is the difference between a network that was installed and a network that was designed.

A WiFi heat map is a colour-coded plan of your property showing predicted or measured wireless signal strength in every area. It reveals dead zones, weak spots and interference before hardware is bought, so access points are placed where the building actually needs them — not where a brochure suggests.
What is the difference between a predictive and an on-site heat map survey?
A predictive survey models coverage from your floor plan, wall materials and AP specifications — ideal at design stage. An on-site survey measures real signal readings walk-by-walk in the finished space, validating the design and catching real-world interference. How much does a WiFi heat map survey cost in Dubai?
Heatmap surveys are free of charge when the project quotation is approved with an LPO. Ordered on their own, indoor surveys are AED 250 per floor and outdoor areas are AED 350–550 depending on size, excluding 5% VAT.
Do I need a heat map for a small villa or office?
Yes — smaller sites benefit the most. Concrete walls, mirrors and metal partitions common in UAE buildings can kill a signal within a few metres. A heat map right-sizes the deployment, which often means fewer access points placed correctly instead of more placed blindly, saving money on day one.
